Looking Ahead: Vectorworks 2025 Coming Soon!

Alex Altieri

Vectorworks 2025 is right around the corner.

The new version is going to wow you. We’ve dedicated lots of time to upgrading core functionality and creating several helpful new tools. Here’s what our CEO, Dr. Biplab Sarkar, said about the upcoming release:

"At Vectorworks, we're dedicated to creating usability wins for our customers, ensuring that our software doesn't dictate the limits of what's possible,” Sarkar said. “Our latest version is a testament to this commitment, providing powerful tools that seamlessly integrate into your workflow, allowing you to focus firmly on your ideas without obstacles."

Without further ado, let’s tease a few new features you can expect to see this September.

For All Designers

In an era where designers demand more from their technology, Vectorworks 2025 rises to the occasion, delivering a design software experience that mirrors the way you want to work. This latest release focuses on intuitive visualization and interactivity, with tools that empower you to bring visions to life with ease.

On-Screen View Control

This feature provides one-click navigation to all major viewing options, with added click-drag functionality to interactively orbit the model. This grants you instant and interactive control over model viewing from any perspective.

Object-Level Visibility

With this feature, you’ll be able to control visibility per object in addition to by classes and layers. This means you can more easily navigate to specific parts of your model and allows you to create custom drawings or viewports to clearly communicate design intent.

Two-Point Perspective

This new mode, which you can toggle on or off with a single click, allows you to produce traditional architectural compositions and perspectives used in professional architectural photography with ease.

Vectorworks Cloud Drawing Reviewer

This new function makes the Vectorworks Cloud even more robust by allowing you to create a shareable link of selected sheet layers and worksheets to others in a web browser. Those with the link can comment on shared information, use measurement tools, and select individual objects to view their data. You can then bring markups back into Vectorworks to address feedback.

For Architects & Interior Designers

Vectorworks 2025 showcases the company’s dedication to the software's continuous development and evolution to meet the needs of today’s industry professionals. The new version allows architects and interior designers to focus on creativity and design rather than the specific capabilities of their software platform.

Room Finishes

This update expands the functionality of room finishes within Space objects. In version 2025, you’ll be able to easily define and manage an unlimited number of wall surfaces and finishes for accurate reporting and documentation.

BIM Construction Classification

This feature automates the application of local and national construction classification standards, saving you tons of time and reducing the potential for errors.

Countertops

The brand-new Countertop tool allows you to create finely detailed countertops with parametric automation and flexible customization options, such as custom edge details and automatic hole cuts.

For Landscape Architects & Designers

For customers in the landscape industry, Vectorworks 2025 enhances data-centric, collaborative workflows. This furthers our commitment to making BIM accessible for landscape professionals and encourages them to embrace the software’s smart, dynamic tools.

Curbs, Edging, & Borders

The addition of a new tool allows you to significantly reduce design time by creating curbs, borders, and edging with a single tool that automatically updates with changes to associated objects.

Survey & Reference Points

A new Survey Point tool provides a fast and user-friendly way to establish a geographic project base point among collaborators in a single operation.

Upgrades: Hardscape & Landscape Area Tools

The Hardscape and Landscape Area tools have received additional data settings that address erosion, the urban heat island effect, and biodiversity deficiency to support your sustainability goals.

For Lighting, Rigging, & Event Professionals

Version 2025 underscores Vectorworks’ dedication to listening to designers and evolving the software to meet their needs. Several features in the latest version have been implemented specifically at the request of customers in the entertainment industry

New Previsualization Option: Showcase

Showcase, a new addition to Vectorworks Spotlight, enables streamlined previsualization directly in the software’s interface. With version 2025, you’ll be able to design and test your show in just one software program.

Automated GDTF File Mapping

This new feature incorporates fixture information from gdtf-share.com directly into Vectorworks Spotlight, enabling an efficient GDTF workflow and ensuring you have access to the latest information you need.

Quality Boosts to Central Functionality

Schematic views’ bidirectional functionality has been fine-tuned, so when you insert objects either in 2D schematic views or via 3D parent objects, the other will update automatically.

The Power Schematics feature adds a command to create a ConnectCAD connectivity schematic from a lighting plot, allowing you to easily document your power plan with customizable reports and sheets.

An upgraded truss workflow makes snapping lights and other equipment to trusses quick, responsive, and intuitive.
